1. The MTA is filing legislation that will allow teachers who have worked in private schools before working in public schools to buy their time at private schools for retirement purposes. We will let you know the bill number once we have it.

2. The MTA has filed legislation which will change the calculation for cost of living adjustments for retired teacher. Currently the COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) is figured on only the first $12,000 of the retired teachers' annual income. The new legislation will calculate the COLA on the entire income. All teachers will eventually benefit from this legislation. Once we have the bill number, we wll publish it here.
